The Different Types of Dermal Fillers
There are currently many brands of dermal fillers on the market, approximately over twenty-five, but basically there are only two major types, permanent and non-permanent. There are many sub-categories within these two types. The sub-categories are categorised by material used to make the dermal filler, intended treatment for the dermal filler, and how the dermal filler is made. The most popular filler is the non-permanent type which is also known as resorbable dermal fillers. The most popular resorbable dermal filler injection is colllagen instant therapy, which is appropriate for plumping soft tissues by being injected at the site. Collagen comes in different thicknesses which are chosen depending on the depth of skin that needs filling. Collagen instant therapy is beneficial on facial areas and lips. Collagen instant therapy is also effective in treating scars. Collagen instant therapy usually lasts four to six months. There is also a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler. Hyaluronic acid fillers are made using bacterial and also comes in a variety of thicknesses based on patient need. Some benefits of hyaluronic acid fillers are they may last longer than other collagen options, and there is almost no recovery time required. A thicker dermal filler is effective adding volume. They are normally used for sunken cheeks, reshaping the nose tip, deeper scars, and on weak chins. Injections are given by inserting the length of the needle into the middle of the area and backing it out, or by a series of injections along the area that needs filling. Sometimes an anaesthetic cream is used or in the case of the lip area a shot of lignocaine, to numb the area. A permanent dermal filler, of course, last longer than non-permanent, but are not as popular as non-permanent. Dermal fillers last anywhere from three to five months, or three to five years.
